What colors were dinosaurs? Paleontologists have found fossil dinosaur skin, but the colors have long since faded away. To get clues to their colors and patterns, look at related animals like modern birds and reptiles, then imagine how they may have looked. Rhamphorynchus was a flying reptile that lived during the Jurassic period.

It was a skillful flyer and predator, using its long, pointed teeth for catching fish. 

Some Rhamphorynchus fossils show the remains of fishes in their stomachs.  Many of their skeletons have been discovered in the limestone quarries of Bavaria, Germany.
