Living Fossils of Southeast Missouri and the Surrounding Region/Brent Ashcraft

Bollinger County Museum of Natural History will host Brent Ashcraft on Saturday, October 24. At 1:00 pm, Brent Ashcraft, amateur paleontologist, will present “Living Fossils of Southeast Missouri and the Surrounding Region.”  A look at the plants and animals of this area and what they tell us about the past and present.

Our museum pays honor to the Missouri Dinosaur, Hypsibema missouriensis, in our Missouri Dinosaur Discovery exhibit. We invite you to explore Missouri’s rich fossil record with us.


Fun children’s activities, from 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm, include a children’s fossil dig, dinosaur dig, fossil scavenger hunt with local fossil prize, and other fossil related activities. Children will take home a fossil craft kit with fossil activities, while supplies last.


Bring your fossils or come see our fossils and help us celebrate National Fossil Day, 2020.
